  1. R.C. Bigelow, Inc. was begun in 1945 by Ruth Campbell Bigelow, a tea connoisseur who wanted to offer even more taste opportunities to American tea drinkers. Among the teas that Bigelow presents is their wonderful Spiced Chai Tea. "Chai" comes from the Hindi word for tea, but in the West it is interpreted as Masala Chai, Indian spiced tea. This tea is an interesting version of Indian spiced tea, but for some reason, Bigelow does not publish which spices are actually used in it (at least not so far as I have been able to find out). I think that this is shortsighted, with all of the allergies around and so forth. My guess is that it has cinnamon, cloves, ginger, vanilla, and black pepper in it, but don't take that as gospel.

Overall, I found this to be an excellent hot tea, with a wonderfully spicy smell, and a great taste that is not overwhelming. Some Chai teas are a bit overwhelming, but the Bigelow people did a good job of striking a balance between spiciness and sweetness. As an added bonus, this tea taste great iced, a refreshing drink that leaves your mouth felling clean and fresh. I think that this is a great tea, and I highly recommend it to everyone! (By the way, check out the interesting recipes on Bigelow's website!)

  2. My wife absolutely loves the decaf chai tea. She wanted it so bad, that I finally ordered a case of it online. I make her tea every morning and it always brings a smile.

  3. I am so glad that a decaf chai is available that doesn't taste like dirt. This is so wonderful in the evening before bed or when I'm reading a book (which is every day). I like it as much as I like decaf Starbucks lattes. Thank you Bigelow for thinking of those who can't have caffeine but still want the flavor of chai.
