  1. I have been looking for a cheaper way to get good chai than continuing to pay several dollars at a coffee shop.

Most brands I have tried, including more expensive stuff, either smell funny or have a single spice that is too strong and stands out. Bigelow's chai doesn't have any harsh standouts, and results in the unique even taste I liked about the expensive coffee shop tea. On top of being my favorite strictly by taste, it's also one of the cheapest brands on the shelf.

    Two handy features:

    - Each bag is inside its own envelope. It's nice to be able to transport one or two bags without having to touch them directly with dirty hands. Other brands leave the individal bags naked and have a nice sealed liner in the box, which is really handy if you plan on wandering around with an ENTIRE BOX OF TEA.

    - Each bag has a dipping string/tab attached to remove the bag from your cup. It's 2007 and some teabag manufacturers still won't spot us a 2" piece of thread.

  2. If you're looking for chai like you get from real tea stores this product is a great alternative to buying the expensive brands. If you're looking for the "chai" sold at gas stations, this is not it. Be sue to add cream and sweetener for an autheic chai flavor. To make this vanilla chai, just add vanilla creamer. Tastes awesome.

  5. R.C. Bigelow, Inc. was begun in 1945 by Ruth Campbell Bigelow, a tea connoisseur who wanted to offer even more taste opportunities to American tea drinkers. Among the teas that Bigelow presents is their wonderful Spiced Chai Tea. "Chai" comes from the Hindi word for tea, but in the West it is interpreted as Masala Chai, Indian spiced tea. This tea is an interesting version of Indian spiced tea, but for some reason, Bigelow does not publish which spices are actually used in it (at least not so far as I have been able to find out). I think that this is shortsighted, with all of the allergies around and so forth. My guess is that it has cinnamon, cloves, ginger, vanilla, and black pepper in it, but don't take that as gospel.

Overall, I found this to be an excellent hot tea, with a wonderfully spicy smell, and a great taste that is not overwhelming. Some Chai teas are a bit overwhelming, but the Bigelow people did a good job of striking a balance between spiciness and sweetness. As an added bonus, this tea taste great iced, a refreshing drink that leaves your mouth felling clean and fresh. I think that this is a great tea, and I highly recommend it to everyone! (By the way, check out the interesting recipes on Bigelow's website!)
